Can reading be considered a skill? Well, as part of a receptive action in one of the four basic skills of communicating in a language it can be considered a skill, a life skill. The four basic skills of communicating in a language include: writing and reading (reading being the reciprocal action to writing), then there is speaking and listening.
Reading and writing constitute the tangible skill of communication and this is very vital in a world that seeks to evaluate your level on literacy and use literacy skills to express yourself and it evaluates you for partaking in the business aspects of the World.


What we do
Young Reach Initiative is an NPO that looks into alleviating the plight of illiteracy in South Africa and ensuring quality education is accessible to every child despite background setting.
Young Reach Initiative aims at bridging the existent gap in literacy amongst children in the foundation phase of learning, (6-14 years) through reading clinics that will go around working with schools, seeking to re-dress the plight. The focus on learning how to read through the employment of Phonetics and reading tools will assist in curbing the illiteracy rates in the country and adversely alleviating poverty in South Africa.

It is from this departure point that Young Reach Initiative engages early intervention to ensure that children are equipped with this skill to ensure their place in the race towards personal transformation and a seat in the professional table of shaping and effecting traction in the nation. Once every child is awarded the opportunity to be equipped with this skill, then their road to personal transformation becomes a reality.
